This is a three-year planning project begun in 2010 for the purpose of bringing together noted scholars from both the science disciplines and the Eastern Orthodox Church.

This site is dedicated to the study of ancient Eastern Orthodox Christianity and modern science, with an emphasis on Orthodox Christianity in North America.  Most of the dialogue and engagement between science and religion derives from a western Christian perspective and so is deeply imbedded in the theology and history of Western Europe.  It is probably safe to say that the worldview of William of Ockham, Francis Bacon, Isaac Newton, Rene Descartes, and other influential figures associated with the history of modern science, did not share an Eastern Christian understanding of anthropology or the creation

The scholars who will be contributing to this research project have been selected from a wide variety of scientific and other academic disciplines as well as noted contributors from the Eastern Orthodox community. You will find their biographical sketches with their academic areas of specialization and contributions to this project under the People and Research links.

You can learn more details of the project and information on participation at the "about the project" link.

I hope that you will continue to visit this site to look through the research papers presented here.
